Frequently Asked Questions

Can i bring my baby to session with me?

Absolutely! My office space is equipped with toys for infants and toddlers as well as other baby necessities. I am also breast-feeding friendly.

What is the perinatal Period?

The medical community believes that the perinatal period lasts during pregnancy and extends to the infant’s first birthday. This is true for miscarriages and neonatal loss as well. Many times Perinatal Mental Health Disorders (PMHDs) extend past baby’s first birthday if left untreated.

Do just childbearing women get Perinatal Mental Health Disorders?

No! While there is a biological/hormonal component to PMHD’s, partners can get PMHD’s as well. Foster Parents and Adoptive Parents are also at risk for PMAD’s.

What can I expect at my first appointment with you?

Prior to our first appointment, I will send you some paperwork and questionnaires to complete which will help me get to know you, the issues that you are currently struggling with and how your symptoms are currently affecting you. When we meet, we will spend time getting to know your medical/therapy history, your family dynamics, what symptoms have been causing you the most distress, as well as work to create an individualized plan for our work together. I want your therapy experience to be collaborative, you remain in the drivers seat at all times!

What if I don’t feel like your a good fit for me?

I totally get it. Sometimes the vibes just aren’t vibing! The most important thing to me is that we find you support with someone who you feel comfortable with. If we meet for your intake and you decide that I’m not the therapist for you, I promise I don’t take offense. I will however, ensure that we find you some support elsewhere in the community.
